1. About NovateScan

NovateScan is an independent Australian online service that analyses novated lease documents to help consumers understand their financial obligations, identify potential issues, and make more informed decisions.

NovateScan is not a financial services provider, credit provider, mortgage broker, financial planner, accountant, solicitor, or any other kind of licensed professional adviser. We do not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) or Australian Credit Licence (ACL).

NovateScan is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or in any commercial relationship with any novated lease provider, salary packaging company, financier, or vehicle dealer operating in Australia.

2. Important disclaimer

The analysis, comparisons, benchmarks, rate assessments, red flag identifications, and recommendations provided by NovateScan are:

• Generated by artificial intelligence and automated algorithms
• Based on general market data and publicly available information
• Not tailored to your complete personal, financial, or legal circumstances
• Not reviewed or verified by a licensed financial, tax, or legal professional
• Subject to error, omission, and the limitations of AI-based document processing

Before making any decision based on information from NovateScan, you should:

• Obtain independent financial advice from a licensed financial planner or adviser
• Obtain tax advice from a registered tax agent or qualified accountant
• Obtain legal advice from a qualified solicitor if you have concerns about contract terms
• Verify all figures and analysis directly with your novated lease provider

3. Acceptable use

By using NovateScan you agree that you will:

• Only upload documents you are legally entitled to share and analyse
• Not upload documents containing another person's information without their knowledge and consent
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service
• Not use the service for any fraudulent, deceptive, or illegal purpose
• Not use the service to generate information intended to mislead others
• Not use automated means to access the service in bulk or at scale

We reserve the right to terminate access to the service for any user we reasonably believe is in breach of these terms.

4. Accuracy and limitations

Document extraction

Our AI-based document extraction technology has a high but not perfect accuracy rate. Complex document layouts, poor scan quality, non-standard formatting, and handwritten notes may result in extraction errors. You should review all pre-filled fields carefully and correct any errors before proceeding to analysis.

Rate benchmarks

Our interest rate benchmarks are updated monthly based on published provider rates, RBA cash rate movements, and industry data. They represent our best estimate of current market conditions and are adjusted dynamically based on lease term, employer type, vehicle type, and vehicle value. They should not be treated as guaranteed market rates — actual rates available to you may vary based on your credit history, employer size, and individual provider pricing.

FBT and tax calculations

FBT, salary sacrifice, and income tax calculations are based on current ATO published rates and your stated salary. They do not account for other income, deductions, HECS indexation changes, changes to FBT legislation, or your individual tax position. Always obtain advice from a registered tax agent.

Market data currency

NovateScan makes reasonable efforts to keep benchmark data current. However, market conditions can change rapidly and our data may not reflect the most recent changes. All benchmarks are labelled with their effective date.

5. Privacy policy

NovateScan takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What we collect

• Documents you upload: processed in memory to generate your analysis and deleted immediately. Not stored.
• Intake form inputs: salary, employer type, kilometres, EV status, and optional fields entered during the analysis flow. These are used only to generate your report and are not stored after your session ends.
• Email address: only if you choose to create an account or request a report to be emailed. Used only for that purpose.
• Usage analytics: anonymised, aggregated data about how the service is used (page visits, feature usage). No personally identifiable information is included.

What we do not collect

• We do not store your uploaded lease document
• We do not log your salary or financial inputs after your session
• We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking
• We do not sell any data to third parties
• We do not share data with novated lease providers, financiers, or vehicle dealers

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@novatescan.com.au.

6. Your data and document security

All documents uploaded to NovateScan are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Documents are processed in isolated, ephemeral compute environments and are deleted immediately upon completion of analysis. We do not use uploaded documents to train AI models.

Our infrastructure is hosted in Australia. Data does not leave Australian jurisdiction during processing.

7. Intellectual property

All content on the NovateScan website — including the analysis methodology, benchmark models, visual design, written content, and software — is the intellectual property of NovateScan and is protected by Australian copyright law.

Your analysis report is generated for your personal use. You may share it with advisers, your employer, or your novated lease provider for the purpose of negotiation or decision-making. You may not reproduce or republish it commercially without our written consent.

Documents you upload remain your property. You grant NovateScan a limited, temporary licence to process your document solely for the purpose of generating your analysis report. This licence expires when your document is deleted.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, NovateScan, its directors, employees, contractors, and agents are not liable for:

• Any financial loss arising from decisions made based on NovateScan analysis
• Errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated document extraction
• Errors or inaccuracies in rate benchmarks, FBT calculations, or cost comparisons
• Interruption, suspension, or unavailability of the service
• Any loss or damage resulting from unauthorised access to your data

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law, including rights that cannot be excluded under Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010.

Where our liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, it is limited to the resupply of the relevant service or the cost of having the service supplied again.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria for the resolution of any dispute arising under these terms.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
